Throughout history there has been an association between royality,lifestyle and tea. When King Charles II married the Portuguese princess, Catherine of Braganza, Britans's new Queen was already an avid Tea Drinker. She introduced it to the aristocrats at Court and the word spread about this new beverage. Ladies enjoyed tea in their home, while gentlmen often drank their tea in the coffee houses in London(Women were not allowed). Afternoon Tea developed out of this tradition and dainty tea sanwiches and delicate cakes were served.
